Layout Prints White Vertical Lines

Anyone have any idea why Layout prints white vertical lines and a "jitter" like effect when we print to PDF? Output quality is set to "High". The following image was printed to PDF and then converted back to JPG to view here in the forum.

Do you get the same white lines if the output quality is set to medium? And as for the "jittery" lines, trying rendering the viewports with Hybrid instead of Raster.

Hi Dave, we've tried both high and medium output and the result is the same. However, I changed all of the scenes to hybrid and that worked. Hybrid takes quite a bit longer to render but we'll just have to get used to that.

You should upgrade to SU2014. Render times are much, much shorter than in LO3.

Ha...we are using SU2014. We are close to completing our second full custom home construction drawing package using only Sketchup and Layout. This drawing was just a small side project where someone needed to show the City what their addition was going to look like.
So glad to not have to use ACAD anymore but speed is still an issue in Layout in comparison to traditional ACAD model/paperspace. Learning Layout more and more every day though so it is really coming along. Thanks again for your help today.

An old thread about similar situation.....LO "tiles" the exported pdf.
As Dave says....upgrade to SU2014.... for much faster renders....and I no longer see this in 2014.......at least not yet.

I also get a lot of scenarios where printing from pdf has missing lines. Submited to trimble...

Could be Adobe need a kick up the rear too. I see this problem on a regular basis when exporting PDFs containing images from plenty of other applications too - e.g. CorelDraw, MS Publisher, MS Word, etc... It's real PITA - PDF is our standard format for all of our 'customer-facing' documents, and we have hundreds of them to try and keep up to date.
Given that even Adobe's own PDF viewers come up with "this document may not be displayed correctly" more often than not, makes me think it's about time for a new "universal" document standard - something under the control of a proper international standards agency rather than a single company who can change the spec' on a whim whenever they feel like it.

I wasn't aware of that... Thanks for the info. But now the problem is even greater. What format would one use for this sharing of drawings between architect, client, contractor?
SVG?
On a side note, I also noticed that if I import the pdf to Gimp and print from there, the problem persists...
