Vray sketchup vs vray 3dsmax

Hi
I've been using vray for SU for quite a while, but and now i have to use max/vray at work instead. Not my choice.
I much prefer the way vray for SU lights the scene, the same settings in vray/max is different, no matter how i tried to replicate the same setting in the same scene.
Vray for SU is less burned and more pleasant, i'd say it looks more real to me.
Could you please tell me what are the differences .Is it a different sky algorithm or sun?

Maybe your color mapping ?
I don't have 3Dsmax with me right now, but it might be something like this:Render Setup > Vray > Color mapping > Mode : Color mapping and Gamma.
