Mate, I'm impressed!! Could you show us what you mean about an angle map?
I've really fallen behind with my Maxwell skills having neglected to upgrade for a bit, I really need to seeing this!

Richard, thanks! Im glad you like it!
The angle maps is applied to the maxwell grass parameter 'initial angle', the map is an RGB map, where red, green and blue correspond to the axis X, Y, Z, that way the grass grows in the direction determined by the angle map.
The angle map I used is created using a photoshop action on a black and white image, the photoshop action can be downloaded here:

I have no access to my computer and files until next wednsday, then I can show you the angle map used

Hi Richard!
sorry for the delay...
this is the anglemap I used for the experiment, I did 2 copies of the same map applying blur filter at different values in photoshop to generate more variants...
I attached 2 images to compare grass with and without anglemap, and a screen capture with the Maxwell grass parameters used...best

Thanks for getting back to this mate!!! That's an impressive result!
Do you notice a distinct line if the angle map isn't seamless?
I've so got to update my softs. It's been a while!
