Drape tool not working for me
-
Hello,
Every time I try and use the drape tool, I click on the item I want to drape over my terrain and then it shows the colourful loading wheel on my mac and then I wait a few minutes and the drape tool didn't work.
Maybe I am using it wrong? Not sure, need help. I have used the tool before and it didn't do this to me.

Post your fault file Skp (in v6)
-
I don't know how to upload the file, it's 8 MB too big, how to I do the V6
-
Make a copy.
Purge it under Model Info > Statistics
If it's > 4Mb ZIP it.
You attach files in the section below the pane where you type your message...
To save it as another earlier version you use 'Save_as'... -
Here's the zipped file, hopefully you can open it

You hadn't Purged it
But it only made a few 100kb difference anyway...The object to drape has 107k entities - mainly edges!
It takes a few minutes for Drape to analyze them all !
Then a few minutes more to do the draping [stops for sometime at 40%]...
Be patient... have a coffee, take a stroll... -
I don't know how to purge it sorry,
I've been trying to drape it. I click the drape button then click on the site, and then the colourful loading wheel pops up for 5 minutes, then it doesn't do anything. It doesn't give me the option to click on the terrain after?
Could you maybe drape it and then send it back?

I told you how to do that in the original post asking you to Purge it

Have patience.
It does select after a while and then you go to the next step, and wait again...Alternatively try copying the drape-group, and then editing the copy and deleting half of its contents by fenced-selection, then edit the other copy and delete the other half: then drape one, then the other - you will find it's much quicker that way [>> x2 as fast] - the more geometry there is to process the time it takes goes up almost exponentially !
Also realize that the CAF plan - especially the areas with the trees/shrubs - is very geometry intensive and could have been greatly simplified in CAD before it was imported into the Model without any loss of useful info -
It finally worked, I just cut the draping-group in half and draped them on separately. I also tried to purge it but wasn't sure it if worked or not. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me, much appreciated!!

I've been a away for a few days...
I also noted that the tree/plants etc were well CAD layered, so you could turn them off in the model to drape just the road lines etc...
Glad it finally worked
