Ok, here is what is happening. I created a 2'x2' vray rectangular light. I edit the light to increase intensity. no problem. Then I make the rectangular light into a component with the hope to duplicate the light as an instance. Now if I edit the rectangular light it does not apply to any of the instances, or the actual light being edited. Do vray lights not behave as other component instances? My hope is to create an array of rectangular vray lights that could be adjusted by just editing one.

      Thank You,

      John

If you have the latest 2.0 release it should work, but there has been bugs with this. Typically, I draw a small line from the edge of the light and then component those 2 things. Most of the time this works.

I am using 2.0. I tried your suggestion to draw a small line prior to creating the component and it worked! Thank you so much Valerostudio!

You need to do this with all lights that you make into components and I find if you group it, then make it into a component, the light becomes broken.

Converting lights to components has been fixed for a while. I just did a quick test and it works for me. Which specific version are you using? (check under Preferences --> Extensions --> V-Ray for Sketchup) If you have an example scene that consistently gives you that error, you could send that to their support team.

Seems that Andy is correct, you can just right click it and make it a component. Glad to see this is working now.
