[Plugin] InfinitePanOrbit [Now on OSX]
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbW1FOOrhsU
Releases the Pan and Orbit tools from the screen boundaries. When using these tools, if the cursor reaches the screen edge, it is teleported to the other side. So you can pan and orbit indefinitly.
You can toggle the plugin in "View > InfinitePanOrbit"
OSX support by John "Driven" Boundy
Known issues:
- The view flashes sometimes. The "flash" can be really long (sometimes up to 1 sec) and annoying in complex models. In that case, you should disable it.

Very kool Jiminy...
-
Cool idea.
I installed it on my Win 7 machine from the PluginStore and it worked with the blank drawing window that was open before installing but I opened a model file and tried it. It didn't work. I've tried closing and reopening SketchUp several times. No change.

A handy little tool, almost works for me.
It will orbit top and bottom and to the left side but going to the right it hits a wall.
I'm currently on a single display setup but there would normally be one or two other screens off to the right side, perhaps that is causing it. -
Awesome. Just Awesome.

Indeed... I'll fix it.

You're right, it's probably related to that. Although, I don't get why.
What does this window show you? -
Jiminy, I'm also on single display and it's not working to the right too.
EDIT: I use a projector on this PC sometimes though. Those screens display the following:

Thanks JBB. I'll give it a try when I get home after work.

Thanks JBB - Pure Zen !
-
Thanks JBB works perfectly now.
-
I'm getting used to this really fast... Thanks!
-
Works perfectly for me now. Even with a second display. Only problem is my mouse pad isn't big enough.

When the discussion about this plugin started I thought, hmm, interesting idea but don't think I would use it much. Then when you released the plugin I thought, Ok I'll try it but I hope he's made it easy to turn off as I'm certain I'll only use it occasionally.
Now that I have it and have used it for a day or so I can't think why I would turn it off and don't understand why it isn't a normal feature. Bloody Brilliant, thanks again.
-
Wow, that what was I waiting for ^_^
-
it's running smoothly in your video (on your machine) but it doesn't in my sketchup.. when it reaches the edge, it goes reverse and the go forward.. I hope you can try it on another machine please, or try to add more plugins in the Main UserInterface to your sketchup and test it again.
thanks.
-
what happened with me (each time I switch over the edge) is actually similar to what happened at 0:35 in your video.

Yes, this is what I meant by:

The length of this "flash" is heavily dependent on the model's complexity. The more complex the model, the more you're gonna experience this issue. For now, I can only advise you to disable it when working on heavy models.
I found a solution, but it resets the center of rotation. And as you know, the center of rotation depends on the location of the mouse when you activate the pan/orbit tool. So this leads to some really weird things depending on the geometry configuration in the view.
I don't think this is a good solution...I'll keep searching for a solution.

The Orbit tool does it naturally sometimes, too.

New version 1.0.2
