Kerkythea and Sketchup2014
-
Those green faces use to happen when SU can't find the icons. You probably have the plugin installed incorrectly.
-
I agree it must be the way I installed the plugin. I am new to windows 7. I figured when I run the export for the first time, all I had to do was point to Kerkythea application. But that's when I got the error and don't know what it means.
The error message
The green faces
I have the plugin in AppData/Roaming/Sketchup2014/Sketchup/Plugins

I got this reply from Fletch over at Kerkythea forums:
As far as I'm aware, no plugin will work for SU2014 without an update for proper path installation, SU2014 Ruby is also an update, so all plugins must be updated.
So, until Tomasz releases an update, there is no SU2KT for SU2014If this is true, how are you guys getting it to work?
-
I use Thea now. I'm going to install Kerkythea and get back at you.
-
It's working better than ever.
Erase everything in SU 2014 Plugins folder related to SU2KT (it's no longer on c:\programs (x86)...\Sketchup\plugins\
Now everything is in:
C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME-GOES-IN-HERE\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins\No go here and download a zip file.
http://www.kerkythea.net/cms/index.php/downloads/softwareFastest way to install is to turn your SU2KT3.17+.zip into SU2KT3.17+.rbz, by simply changing extension name.
Then go to sketchup and in the window menu > preferences > extensions > install extension choose the file you turned into rbz.
It should be working fine now...
-
I have changed the folder from .zip to .rbz. but I can't get the folder to show as a selection when I click 'Install Extension'.
All other plugins have installed successfully into SU2014 over the past day, but KT is giving me a bit of grief....!!
-
JQL I will try that method when I get back to the studio tomorrow.
-
Gareth, are you sure you are looking in the right place for the file that you downloaded and that you have renamed the file extension correctly? I have just downloaded it from the link above, changed it to .rbz and it installed perfectly into 2014.
-
Yep...it's in the same place as my other downloaded plugins.
I can see it when I open the folder with all the others in there, but it isn't there when I use the extensions from within SU.

If this is true, how are you guys getting it to work?Fletch is simply wrong.
It all works here. It works even better, because you don't need administrator rights anymore.
You haven't installed the plugin correctly. The missing icons mean that you haven't copied 'su2kt' folder. Do not use "C:\ProgramFiles(x86)" folder! This is why it fails. SU2014 plugins should be installed in the User folder:
"C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins"Check the screen-shot below, please.
Have you installed 3.17+ form Kerkythe website?
Have you extracted/copied su2th folder as well? When you export and open the exported file automatically for the first time, the plugin will ask you for selecting thea.exe. If you do this correctly, the exported file will be opened and the path to Kerkythea stored in kt_path.txt, as shown in the screen-shot.

"Sophie got Beamed up and looks alright"
LOL a bit flat if you ask me...
-
All is good now....
the "**C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins**" worked a treat
Thank you...!!
...life should be easier than this

Turns out my issue is similar to someone else who posted it over at KT forums
http://www.kerkythea.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10%26amp;t=10502I even installed my free version 8 on the W7 machine and it's the same issue, so not a 2014 specific thing. The plugin works fine on my XP machine but not working in W7. It seems I have some kind of permissions configuration thing going on but at least I can create the xml file and open seperately in KT. Any ideas?
-
Have you extracted 'su2kt' & su2kt.rb files to the User folder?
If so, the files in the folder don't require admin permission.
Delete kt_path.txt if the 'su2kt' folder. This should help. -
D'vance merci -
How do I install the plugin to export from sketchup 2014 to kerkythea on mac?
-
For Mac you have two options on kerkythea site, in the page where you download the plugin.
http://www.kerkythea.net/cms/index.php/downloads/software
Open the Zip file and there you have a text file with more instructions.
You can also use the same trick I recommended above, and change .zip to .rbz then go to Sketchup and in the Sketchup menu > Preferences > Extensions > install extension and choose the new rbz file.
-
just copy the su2kt.rb and su2kt folder, to the C:\Program Files (x86)\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\ShippedExtensions, and it works fine.

Hi there,
I also have problems installing the plugin, after I read here there is a different way to do it for SU2014, so I tried it this way.C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins\
But apparently my computer doesn't have AppData, it has Roaming but that file is empty.
Can someone help me with this problem?
Is there an other way? Also I have windows 8, I don't know if that change things.
I really hope someone can help me because I really need it, it would be sad that I just upgraded my SU and won't be able to use KT.
Thanks!
