Command input autocad style?
-
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to change current input method inside sketchup? I am aware that I can change my shortcuts but this doesn't help me much. I would like to have all may commands under my left hand, similar to video games. In autocad I managed to do this and make c-circle, cc-copy, rt-rotate-, rr-mirror etc, and then by pressing spacebar I activate the command. Is this possible by any chance in sketchup? I really hate pressing weird shift+ or ctrl+ combinations

no. it's not possible to work that way in sketchup.
idk, I went the other way (sketchup to smthng more command line based (rhino)) and in many regards, I find the sketchup way to be faster and/or more fluid.
mainly because you don't have to press return (or spacebar)..I'd say you're probably best off if you just get used to using modifier keys if you're looking to streamline your sketchup experience/workflow

I'm quite happy just using the icons, there are so few of them it's easy to hit the right one quickly

Yeah, it's not going to work the same way... but you can still create keyboard shortcuts for frequently used tools. Myself I have 3 screens and I'm in love with toolbars. I want a toolbar for everything... EVERYTHING!
