PluginStore 2.5 Sneak Peek
-
I know... but aren't you talking about moving it to another plugin?
-
Nope...
Fredo's checker is for his alone. Our tool will track your PluginStore downloads as well as what you have installed per device.
No nags...You decide when to check.
-
Nice features
Operating System filtering would be nice too... maybe -
Yeah, ThomThom was in on fredo's as well, I think he's phasing out though. Ok so yours will check everything that's installed on a system not just what is in the pluginstore list? I guess I still don't see why it would not be combined inside of the plugin store UI. Maybe it's easier on the code side? Either way I like a way to check my plugins for updates.

We can't detect what you do outside the PluginStore I'm afraid. Similar to way that the Extension Warehouse is ignorant of your activity here.

Step by Step....slowly slowly catchy monkey

The SketchUcation Plugins Manager already shows you want is Installed on that PC - split between Enabled/Loaded and Disabled lists.
The SketchUcation Plugins Uninstaller shows what you have uninstalled on that PC [assuming you haven't actually deleted the files completely].We know what you have downloaded/installed from the PluginStore [page and dialog combined].
The v2.5.0 MyPlugins tool compares that list to a list of the plugins you currently have installed on that PC.
So if you downloaded XXX.rb some months ago, but you no longer use it on the current PC, then the initial MyPlugins shows all-you-have-ever-downloaded [including XXX], but you can then filter the listing to show just those plugins that are currently installed, and then filter those lists again to show just those that have updates available for download/installation.If you downloaded XXX.rb from the PluginStore we will know the last version you got.
From that we can determine if there's now a newer version available and tell you.
If you downloaded XXX.rb years ago, or you got it from another source, then we have no way of knowing what version that file is, so we can't tell you anything about it... therefore it won't be in MyPlugins - because that is just the plugins you've downloaded from the PluginStore: although its 'name' will be passed to the server-side, there is no matching record of you having downloaded it, so there's nothing to display or compare...
As time goes by and you update your plugins [or you simply reinstall the same ones so we do know what you have downloaded better] the the MyPlugins will present a more accurate picture of your download and installation history...
For what it's worth... we could perhaps tell you that you have a list of plugins which you haven't got from the PluginStore, and then if we have equivalents available for you [but no version check/comparison possible] etc... but you do need to take some responsibility for your set up ?? -
truthfully I can't think that there are more than like 5 or 10 plugins that I didn't get from the pluginstore or that are not now available through it. I know I have older versions of plugins installed that are available in the pluginstore and that I should do as Rich and Dave and yourself are always suggesting and install everything fresh with the plugin store.
Also, you'll notice fredo's updater shows you obsolete plugins too. If that's not on the todo list for this one I would suggest it. Nice being told expressly what you can dump altogether.

Somebody heard us!
Even if they didn't do what we said.

You continue to be awesome, Rich! A new set of twins and now an improved PluginStore.

I know it makes me appear the sluggard that I am, but that feature would be handy. I have 118 rb files and associated extensions (or not as the case might be). I have a list of the plugins I've purchased from other sources (Smustard, etc.) and a file of the rbz's I've downloaded, but it would be handy to know if some of them are in the PluginStore: especially to have the update notification.

We spent some time today looking at how users were using the MyPlugins dropdowm and realised it was a missed/crumby implementation...
So we've re-invented to be more clear...

Since, in essence, you are viewing your setup it seemed obvious to split it away from the store.
What's more is that this new 'My SetUp' area allows us the display more than we initially thought. We will be able to prompt the user that updates are available by displying a notification on the 'Gear' icon.
In the m'My SetUp' are we can also add a 'My Profile' tab. This could list things like...
- I've rated 689 plugins
- I've downloaded 433 plugins
- I've donated 9,076 times
...and so on.
Not sure if this lasy 'My Profile' is a good or a bad thing but micro transactions always feel nice.

Seriously. Looks great Rich. can't wait.

After many setbacks we will release v2.5 next week.
The reason for the delay is that w added the ability to bulk update plugins...
[screenr:owkm4dx2]BWsN[/screenr:owkm4dx2]
...so no more click, click, click
Other goodies reside within but they're been kept quiet until release
