I am trying to trim off the corrugated sheet metal wall of a shack. I put in a plane that divides the two pieces, one of which is to be trimmed off. I have tried to figure out how to do it but failed. I can't use the solid tools because the wall is not a solid, it says.

      How do I do this?

select the geometry and right click... hit intersect selection. Make sure that the object and the cutting plane are in the same group.

Or, install Zorro2, make a section plane and right click / slice at section: no clean up.

It is a great plugin, but you can't always use it, so I hope you learnt how to intersect.
