[Solved] Faceted in Keyshot
-
Maybe someone can help me with importing a large file into Keyshot (95MB).
I have a smoothed surface which leads to a bad Geometry in Keyshot. The Triangles are visible.
I can't use obj or 3ds because it breaks before the Import is finished.
SKP works well as a direct import.
How can I manipulate the model in Sketchup to avoid the visible triangles or facetings
in Keyshot?Thanks Burkhard

Is the geometry grouped?
-
Yes, nested
-
Do you have a picture ?
At times I also get weird shadows and unsmoothed geometry but only on the shadowed side.
What I have discovered a couple of days ago, a strange thing with a material applied on a component that have been rotated 90 degrees from it's original copy. The new component showed strange blackened triangles all over the texture. I went to sketchup and changed the axes of those rotated components(after making them unique) and the behavior was gone !Somehow textures in Keyshot keep account of the component axes.

Hi Eli, you have a pm
-
Here is a part of those artefacts. Mostly seen with reflactive material applied

I'll give it a go. See you tomorrow

Got it !
I have met this kind of error sometime ago, on the mirrors of some of my cars.
It might be the scale of the object which is too big or the hdri environment too small, but I am not sure .
Also, see if the axes of the groups, components are oriented as the world/origin axes . If not it is a possibility to be that .Here's the axes problem thing .

Hope it helps, take care !

Regrouping and reducing nested Groups did the trick.
