Try setting SketchUp to always run as admin.
As an admin yourself [if you are not one give yourself the power in Control Panels > Users]...
Find the SketchUp.exe file in the main SketchUp folder in the Plugins Files tree...
        Select its icon and right-click > context-menu > Properties > Compatibility...
Tick the check-box near the bottom of the dialog under 'Privilege Level' that says something like 'Run This Programs as Administrator', Apply/OK and restart SketchUp...

            Hi,

I have tried to run as administrator and no luck. I have checked for the permission and no problem there. I also check for compatibility mode and no improvements...

Have you tried restoring back to before the win update to see if that is the problem.

hi "Box" thank you for the reply. the reason i haven't don it is because cannot be that i'm the only user in the world with this problem. However your suggestion is very welcomed and I will try it tonight. But..before that, anything else i could try ?

Thank you for having put time in answering me.

You say the issue came on suddenly...
Have you done a thorough virus scan ?

After Windows updated do you have similar issues with other applications ?
Rolling back to an earlier version of Windows might resolve the issue...

Have you tried 'repairing' your SketchUp installation [Control Panels > Programs & Features] ?
Or uninstalling it, then reinstalling it ??

Hi TIG, the 9/10/2013 windows automatically updated itself with 19 patches. I think rolling back, knowing windows, it is not an option. I would have done for 1 or 2 patches but not for all these ones...i have also reinstall it from scratch and no luck.

I assume you have recently done a thorough virus check ??

Try a full uninstall [via Control Panel > Programs and Features] of SketchUp and then restart and then reinstall it.
Try saving a SKP again [to you're your Desktop where your are sure to have FULL read/write permissions].

If it still fails to save... recheck for rogue plugins breaking SketchUp.
Open SketchUp and install the latest version of the SketchUcation Plugins Store toolset...
Use the blue button to make a set named 'usual'.
Now select all of the enabled Plugins in the left-hand column [select the first one, hold shift and select the last one] and click the red button to disable them into the right-hand column
                                Close and restart SketchUp.
Now no plugins should be loading [except SketchUp's files in the Tools folder].
If it still fails to save, then we know it's not a Plugin and you can Apply the 'usual' set to revert to your previous setup...
BUT if it saves successfully then you know that at least one of the disabled plugins is causing problems, you can add some plugins back into the enabled set and retest etc until it breaks again. Narrow down the problem until you find the problem plugin[s]... Leave it/them disabled !

                                TIG

I just fix my windows on 17th of oct after the update of internet 9
the file control page was wipe out in the iexployer. it would not let me save from internet
exployer browser in file format like rb rbz skp and many other formats i did not try the exployer save methods
the first attemps with chrome did the same but the second time chrome fix itself
the iexployer was still bad so I reboot to safe mode internet and found everthing was find and ok

When I rebooted MS Essentials Found a virus and deleted it.
but my resister for exployer is still bad

I reinsalled internet 9 a few times and it still bad
I restore back two weeks and found the virus was there
I restore back to the removed zero day virus restore point(present time point)

I reload a free download manager for iexployer. that fixes the file control page
next I check out the recycle bin folder and found four folders, you should have one active with recyle Icon folder, I shelded the the others with glary ultility (this is were virus hide there code)

next I repaired the restister with with a register cleaner
now windows boot in 52 sec
if your windows boot time changes it may means you might have a virus
or have memory err win you shout down

                                  4hr later

now system ok for last few days

                                  my conclustion

virus came many weeks earlier and waited to active to windows perdictive updates

yes your are the only one that have that has that virus now...others people stories of my virus started last nov of 2012
