Guide lines

How is that the guide lines do not stay even after I click the way that it says in the help. After I click on the edge and move the cursor the guide line appears, I click the next point, the guide line appears, but disappears on releasing the mouse click.

It sounds like the style you are using has guides turned off. Go to View and tick Guides. After that check the thumbnail for the style you are using and see if it has circular arrows on it. If it does, click on the thumbnail.
