Style Stroke Width (Sketchy Edges)
-
SU2013 Pro (13.0.4812) MSW7
Seems my sketchy edge style strokes are displaying really thick.
I noticed this in the prior 2013 build as well.I still have SU V8 installed and it does not exhibit the same.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks,
Charlie

I haven't had that with any of the sketchy styles I've used. Are OpenGL settings the same between both versions of SU?

Dave,
Yes,same OpenGL settings in both versions.Something is out of whack and I cannot seem to nail it down
Turning off hardware acceleration has no effect.
Charlie
Edit:
Seems turning off "use maximum texture size" resolves the problem....weird..never did that before.
Also, the style stroke appears correctly in Layout.(though incorrect in SU) -
Where did you get that style?

"Stock SU Style"
Style Builder Competition Winner: Pencil on light brown.C
-
Ah. I never use those styles anymore since I make my own.
I have Use Maximum Texture Size turned on and that style works just fine for me. It kind of sounds like some sort of graphics related thing but exactly what, who knows. Weird.
-
Just so you know, you aren't the only one who gets this.
I have the same result on my newest and most powerful PC, while my older one doesn't do it.
Turning off max texture does fix it but that also makes the tool buttons less responsive.
I would dearly love to work out what causes these odd issues. -
Too much power?
I had that sort of thing happen with a style I made with the first version of Style Builder but I put it down to the way I made the style and that I found a way to cheat to make a shorter line segment than is normally allowed. I've not seen it with other styles, though.
-
I'm not sure if you are joking about too much power....?
On mine it happens with any line style.
-
Yeah, I was joking about too much power.
It's a very weird thing. I wish there was some way to easily identify where this is coming from.
If you export a PNG or JPG does it look the same as on screen? What about if you increase the export size?

Box,
I assume you mean with any Sketchy Style (image based linestyles)?
Edit:wait #1....I think I see what you mean in your second image...small but thereI do not have any problems with the regular linestyles (vector based).
Edit:wait #2....now I have to double check this...ckd & no problems with vector based styles.Wondering if this may in fact be a bug in SU 2013?
Seems to me if it were a hardware/graphic card driver issue it would exhibit same in SU V8?Charlie

Sorry Charlie, just to clarify, the my two images above are the same style, top with max texture on and bottom with it off.
Dave the export is the same blurry fat style.
It appears to be related to hardware acceleration as well, if I turn that off the style works with max texture on but things become slow.

Export is same for view size and of course "finer" for HQ export.

I wonder how I got so lucky.

10-4 Understood......I get the same. (w/raster based linestyles only)

I not well informed on the nuts & bolts of Open GL & Hardware Acceleration....but pretty sure this breaks any linkage to the Graphics Card and relys solely on "software" to process things. (hence the slowdown)
IOW.....yes it does relate.........but I wonder if you can really have max texture capability without the Hardware Acceleration on. (sounds good anyway)Charlie

Do you have an Nvidia graphics cards?

Dave,
Beats me..........In your Open GL options......why not use the first option (40 True Color Medium 4x)?Charlie

Nvidia Quadro600 (1GB).......2 year old machine.
But again.....why only in SU 2013 and not SU V8?

No special reason. It's the setting that was automatically selected when I installed SU and it didn't cause me any trouble so I left it alone.
-
It's all very odd.
I now have it set, Use hardware acceleration on and the other two off, and that seems to work best for me.
Sketchy styles work, speed is good and I don't have the strange sloppy tool buttons.
I'm sure it will be different tomorrow.Bugga, just realised I forgot which way I was holding my mouth....
