Can I use the old Toolbar icons?

I would suggest to use the shortcuts, so a change in the icons doesn't matter.
+1
BTW, the icons on Mac retina look real nice. Probably designed with that in mind.

Yeah, they are sweet on the MBP Retina ...... maybe some day everyone will have Retina!

Yes I agree Keyboard short cuts the way to go.
I don't have a MAC but a pretty well spec'd PC.
It seems as though not many think the way I do about the new tool buttons. There are so many helpful people producing add-ons (many include some very professional looking button images) I just can't understand why Trimble are unable to do the same.I have just upgraded and thinking most people are happy with the new features. The main thing is to make it work and increase my productivity.
Has anyone started a thread. The 20 best improvements and/or hidden gems?

There are the release notes with all improvements, and 180 additional "improvements" in the Extension Warehouse

Are you saying that the 2013 toolbar icons have been improved ref: 'release notes'?
I did scan through the list but could see no reference to this.
My point earlier is that many of the extensions (especially their icons) are so good. Its a shame the Trimble efforts don't appear to come close.I have used Sketchup now for a number of years and plan on more serious work. I have often heard Sketchup being referred to as a 'toy'. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sketchup is great. It's a shame the revamped UI (i.e. tool button icons) don't reflect this.
Again IMO.I do not wish to 'go off on one' but if my comments might in some way lead to improved toolbar images at some stage I can sleep more easily!!!
No big deal though is it. Perhaps I should have kept quiet.

The new icon theme was certainly a lot of effort (to make it complete) and they must have tested it somehow extensively. I'm not sure if much is likely to be changed at all.
I think rather extensions have (some) poor quality, mixed quality and some with good design. Having a cookbook (tips&tricks) for SketchUp icon design or some guidelines would be good to create consistency. It had been easy with modeling the icon in SketchUp itself (which I think gave SketchUp its character). But now, what exactly do I do now to design an icon that matches?

You could just use this...
-
Oh no, that's obviously incompatible with SketchUp

Sind SU 2023 Icons have change
I tried hard to get used to them - without success!!!
The new Icons request attention a concentration
Works slows down - especially when days are getting long -
With growing age, my eyes donโt help either. Here is my request :
Alternative 1
give users a chance to choose with a simple mouse click (preferences)Alternative 2
a smart developer writes a plugin to switch to the old IconsHope to get a soon response!!
Best regards,U. Paar

It's funny, I don't remember the 2013 change, but I'm sure I'll always remember the 2023 one! The new icons are terrible, for all the reasons U. Paar states. I've been using them for a year already, and still find them significantly harder to find in the toolbar because they are smaller and are all so similar. Plus they are just graphically inferior. I do use shortcuts, but only for the 20 or so tools and commands I use most regularly. The irony is that the native tool icons used to be more legible than most of those those created by plugin developers, but now it's the opposite. This really seems like an unnecessary own goal by the graphics team.
