Why Do I Get Stray Lines In Layout PDFs?
-
Hello,
I've been working with Layout for a few months and I finally got to the point where I was able to actually print something useful. However, when I exported the file to PDF, I noticed stray horizontal lines throughout the document. They seem to repeat the same way on different pages, but I don't see them on every page. The document looks great in Layout. Am I doing something wrong with the Adobe Reader? I've attached a file so you can see what I mean (look on the upper left margin).
Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks!!

The last file was too big so I attached another one.
Sorry for the confusion!
Frank.

Could you attach the LO file?

Frank,
I checked the layers in the attached .pdf....and when I toggled off/on the .pdf layers.... stray horizontal lines associated with the respective layers followed.Default (pg1) layer contains 3 horizontal "stray lines"
Unique (pg1) layer contains 1 horizontal*"stray lines"*
On Every Page contains 0 horizontal "stray lines"Dave has requested the file and this of course would be a good way to find/indentify the offending lines.

Hi Dave,
The LO file is too big (24 meg) for upload. That's because it references a monster Sketchup file. Don't know how to make it any smaller. Alas, none of my other layout drawings are small enough to be uploaded on the discussion sites. Do you have an e-mail? I'll give you a different file that will be more manageable yet still exhibits the same PDF problems.
Thanks!!

Frank, I don't think my e-mail will accept a 24 Meg file either. You could save a copy of the LO file after purging some stuff--maybe your SKP file-- under File>Document SetUp>References. Unlink the SKP file and then Purge it.

Dave,
I'll send you a file that's only 8.1 MB. I have another that's 4.4 MB (just over the message board limit), but it's not as cool.
Thanks!

Well, I like cool.

Frank, check your e-mail. I found your lines. They aren't so much strays as unintended content.

Moved from the Bugs forum.
As it turned out there were some stray lines as part of the template. A bit of cleanup and the problem is solved.
