For some unknown reason when creating a group the option of giving it a name does not present itself. I have tried the following:

      Selected the Group
      Window > Preferences > Shortcuts
      Filter: Group
      Selected: Edit/Item/Edit Group
      Clicked in Add Shortcut
      Pressed: Shift-E
      Pressed [ + ] button
      Clicked OK

      1. Using the Reset All option.

Make component brings a dialog for naming but not make group.
Right click the group and select entity info and name it there.

As Box says, you're seeing normal behavior.

You could just make components and name them immediately.

I usually keep Entity Info Panel hanging on the right side of the main window.
When I need to name groups, I just type in there, easy... unless you work on a laptop, then you have a real estate problem.
