Snow covered garden.

I know this has been rendered many times but cannot find (yes I did search) for tips on producing a snow covered region in a model.
I have a rough idea, basically a quilted shape draped over terrain to put it in a nutshell, I am just one of those people who have to know all the little actions before I go into something. Just my little bit of autism I suppose.
Anyone with any braodstroke tips?
