Having looked at a plethora of SU tutorials and read as much as I can get my hands on, I do know that having too many faces is not beneficial to fast modeling. However, I do need some advice please. I am about to start a rather large (I am guessing it would be considered large?) model of a wedding reception room. The room is 156'x90' and I am working in wire frame which I hoped would speed things up a bit.

So far I have attempted to place one table with 12 chiavari chairs from the 3D warehouse, and the time that SU took to place the table and then for me to move it, with 30 tables and then all the other additions of the bars and dance floor, stage, decor etc., the couple will be celebrating their first anniversary before I can even get the model completed! I have downloaded polyreduce, and which I am going to try on the table component as soon as posting this, but I was hoping that some kind soul out there could give me some advice on what I can and should do to speed up this process, because I will never be able to do the model at this rate.
      Thank you

3D Warehouse models are not great. Most of hi poly, use awful textures and are not good models to work with. Get an account at Form Fonts and you will thank me. It will pay for itself in one job.

Another Sketchup Plus by dukejazz : http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=42951

This might help you send only the component that you are working at the moment to another SketchUp and when you finish place it back where it was.

                Hope this helps,
