LO 2013 new features
-
For those that hadn't spotted it between all the whinges and gripes of self induced disappointment, LO now has a Copy Array built in that works just like SU - Copy object then type x99 or /99

Yes, indeed its going to be a very useful feature. I REALLY LIKE the direction LO is taking and I feel many Pro users are having a serious look at it with a view to adopting and bringing it into their workflow.
When LO v1 came out it looked to many that it was a little add-on that was a 'by the way you might like this' ..... 'could be handy' kind of thing.
I honestly feel now that LO could well stand on its own as an application priced seperately from SU Pro! And if you think about it, surely this would make business sense to TSU as what folks get for nothing is rarely appreciated!
If LO was a standalone product, maybe in two flavours, free and Pro (with some extra bells and whistles), we could see it being improved even further as it would be 'paying its way', so to speak, and in turn it would then be justified to put some extra manpower behind it that might also improve SU in their spare time

Having read about 'section planes new feature' in LO13 I cannot fathom where it does exist!! Any ideas?
-
Perhaps you misunderstood? The only reference to sections in the blog post has to do with using the new Pattern Fill to add hatching and/or poche to sections which would be created in SketchUp.

I hope they don't separate it Mike, personally I would love to see tighter integration. I've been here before with ArchiCAD, there were many complaints and wishes until the two packages were merged so that the drawing sheets could be manually or automatically updated as the model developed without saving and jumping between two programs.

Yep, mis-read.
But happy with Layout improvements, it is 30% of my workflow, and is a complimentary part of my Sketchup life. Many improvements possible all round - much time available

Between the automated hyphenation of dimensions and the incredibly fast Vector rendering of viewports, it almost seems as if I've forgotten to do something when I finish a project.
-
Zoom is one of the features that has kept me from being all SU/Layout. With this Zoom increase I can manage staying in Layout full time.

Can you use LO 2013 with a v.8 SU file? Thinking I would like the changes in LO without the changes in SU. Seeing posts about stability problems in SU too.
-
Yes you can use Layout 2013 with previous SU version models.
If someone were to go through and reinstall every plugin new, and know that the author had updated it, I would only expect stability improvement in SU. The only issues I have had so far are plugin related.
-
Peter, I haven't had any stability issues with SU or LO 2013.
