Hey Mitcorb, your SU 8 license won't work on 2013, you'll need to upgrade to a new 2013 license.

For plugins, many have already been updated and should work fine. But you should definitely check that you have the latest versions of plugins installed. For the most part, there shouldn't be much that needs to be done, if anything, to get plugins from SU 8 to work in SU 2013.

And Layout did get some great improvements on this round, so definitely look into it!

      Chris

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Thanks, Chris. I will try to look at all the available information.

Tim, I think the improvements in LO alone are worth the upgrade. For me the increase in render speed has been a huge benefit. With LO3 I would start an Update References with rendering in Vector or Hybrid and go eat dinner. Now the rendering is so fast I can't get a sip of coffee from the cup sitting next to my keyboard before it is finished.

And automatic hyphens in dimensions like 3-3/4" or 10'-6" really helps to reduce the time I have to spend on LO projects and errors from missed hyphens.

... still in the Corner Bar , drinking calmly , watching my thread , a bit confused by the presence of some colleagues who have joined it but do not share a drink with me , I just have seen this post from thomthom

            http://sketchucation.com./forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=52454&p=475076&sid=9ff8f97711220da9a09bd3f1e972a9c3#p475076

One of the things under the hood is a new supported C API SDK aimed to replaced the old unsupported C++ API SDK.

Not something the end user benefits from directly right now, something that benefits the whole SketchUp ecosystem in the long run.

so , it may be worth to wait and see , since our beloved Ruby needs the Masters

but , a question raises to my mind ,
should not we better pay the Masters for their work than to pay to Trimble ?
is this upgrade simply a Tax to belong to this Company ?
is it worth because the improves in Layout and the improves about saving animation in SketchUp ?

            ...........

mmmm ..... have to think about it
            I´ll get another beer

            ,))),

Did realize it was invitation only. Besides, it's just after 8 in the morning. Too early for me to have a beer. Enjoy your drink.

                      ah ... well ...
                      time to get back to**work**

I have finally made the decision to uninstall SketchUp 2.013 from my machine and to stick to SketchUp 8 version

                      Great dissapointment .

Final of my conclusions : the logical process of a business is to invest some money on the development of something , and once got it , trying to sell it to the people interested and so being able to get the money back and if lucky to obtain benefit .
So now , in this case , it seems that the process is : first people invest their money so that the development can be taken and once got it , it is sold to the same people to get the benefits , without having invested any money first . ... brilliant ... 😞

                      Hi people see you later

Hi , Trimble , have a good day or whatever .

                      ,))),

I have raised a question some time ago, but there was no feedback.
The question was: is the community mature enough to start a "kicksrater" for a new architectural modeling/drafting software? How much would it cost to get an initial version?
I imagine my own architectural software for a long time, but I am not capable yet of producing such a tool.

I worked with Archicad, but it is an old software with bad habits. Revit appears to be complex and not user friendly. I know there is Microstation, AllPlan, but I don't know much about them.

There was Octree architectural modeler with several interesting ideas, but it didn't get out from beta. It is dead since ca. 2000 😄 .

                          Hi tomasz ,

maybe we will reach a day
when we will become independent from Companies
but as it seems , and you are right , few people here want to hear about it yet

                          Time to Time

It must be ? a question of patience and resistence to prove that it is the future path to follow
if things keep turning as they do now

                          get a drink 👍 Cheers
