Vray 1.6 open beta
-
I am very disappointed with "CAOSGROUP". I have access to the new BETA and I request as the same as 3Dmax users the right to download VISMATS and they denied the request. Only owners of a license can download materials. So no trials witch I agree but BETA testers too? That's is ridiculous. Why users for MAX can have full access and the Sketchup BETA testers no?
Well they do not respond my request more than Bla Bla Bla without sense. I think someone respond by the book not by using their heads.
So you can download the soft test and not materials for use in CHAOSGROUP, use materials from other resources.
My 2 Cents.

i'm a bit confused, must one be a licensed user to beta test?
-
No, but you have to be licensed to download vismats on ChaosGroup's website.
-
thanks, i thought that was the reason why i didn't get any emails reply.

If you are a Beta Tester you should have all the rights to have resources to test the soft in full. This is different to a trial version. You need resources to get feedback to the company and also check the soft and buy the soft in full.
In this snon sesnse case the company only have the full access to users for other soft like 3D max and Sketchup is put in the ditch.
Great strategy for new buyers no?
Non sense.

Finally. Amazing improvements. I think we will have increase in quality of renders made with sketchup very fast
Only one question from me. How works material of proxy? For example if I created proxy with material. What will happen if I import that proxy into different project? Do I need to recreate its material? -

kelper strikes again
I think beta testing is different from a trial version of a software. Not sure why you would expect them to be released under the same conditions.

kalu - I believe that there are licensing restrictions on some of the textures used for some materials, which prevent us from giving them away for free (this was the case with the Arroway materials I believe). It's not hard to make a material, and we provide plenty of documentation and tutorials on how to do it. If we made the life of a beta tester too easy, we would never find any bugs.

Thanks for the information. I talk to some people in Chaosgroup USA and as usual very helpful and different of the main company in Europe.
Thanks again for the comments.

2 questions .
Pardon what could be a silly question. Do I have to uninstall my licensed copy to install this beta. My good sense is telling me I should do that but last time I had trouble activating which resulted in a disruption of office work for 3day or so..
Will this upgrade come free for Licensed users?

Unfortunately, you cannot run the beta and 1.49.01 together, you have to uninstall.
There is pricing information on their website, no, not free upgrade.

I was going to apply, and then I saw the little warning on the vray site: Windows 32 bits only.
-
It's compatible with windows, and there is only a 32bit build of our plugin (as it always has been). SketchUp is also only 32bit.
-
I see that lens effects have been added, thank you very much for adding this!

Yeah, I'm liking it too. A big caveat though is that it is currently not working with DR.
(DR stability has been greatly improved
One can actually use saved maps now - saving irmaps was broken in 1.49) -
works fine on my 64bit machine.
With the exception of a few renders that never completed.
-
and i still haven't heard from them...

Vray Beta is warning me when I open another instance of SketchUp that the program did not close properly and asks me to send a report. I believe this is happening because the other instance has not shut down.

is anyone else having trouble installing this? I am getting the message that it is not compatible with my version of windows ie 64 bit vista, i have also tried it on a 64 bit windows 7 with the same problem. frustrating as I'm really looking forward to trying this out!
