Match photo and blue axis tilt
-
Sometimes (more and more) I notice that a photo cannot match exactly and I don't know why.
I made a box according to the dimensions of the product in the photo (h=362mm, w=258mm, d=218mm) but blue axis cannot align following the picture and scale following blue axis is incorrect.
It looks like a camera "tilt" issue when photo was taken but green and red lines should be enough to correct this, I guess.
I checked EXIF info but there's nothing about the focal.
Here's the file if you want to test it: j2l.x10.bz/photomatch_issue.skpAny photo match guru who know how to make it work in this case?

That's not a bug so I moved the topic.
Very likely the image has been manipulated in an image editor--cropped, surely and possibly had some perspective correction performed on it. If it has, Match Photo won't work perfectly.
Read the help files on Match Photo. I think you'll get some useful information there.

Thanks Dave for your quick reply.
I didn't shoot this one but it happened on my, not edited, pictures in the past. Could be small products or big buildings.
I successfully use match photo for some years now, I read help files and searched forum and re-checked tutorials and never stumble upon this case, I wonder how it can happen.Hmm, cropping an image shouldn't change its perspective, I agree that "Free Transform > perspective" tool can change it in Photoshop, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't used on this one because it's not necessary in this case.

You might want to reread the help files. Especially read the first line below the photo here.

You're right Dave.
It seems awkward to me but sketchup needs corner centered image.
Well, now I need to find which side and how much was cropped on each picture to re-center.
Or may be it's impossible to find? -
I guess I'd just draw the box and get it as close as possible. Then project the image as a texture and adjust it as best as you can.
Or maybe it's overkill to use Match Photo for this simple thing in the first place.

I“ve came across this problem some time ago, you could use a program to straighten the vertical lines, hugin it“s a free program and there is a tutorial just for this in their website.
http://hugin.sourceforge.net/edit: this is the tutorial, http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/architectural/en.shtml

Here is an old post on old post on uncropping a photo. It would also work to fix photos that have had tilt shift done. But I agree, for your example, could just draw a box and then project texture manually, and skew as necessary.
