      Hi

I make models mostly based on photos, but sometimes can't find info on the size of the object/building.

      For example this castle:

Do you have any advice on how to figure out the size of the model in real life?
Sometimes there will be people in the photos and that helps a lot, but not here.

counting bricks/stones...only if they are quite uniform of course. You only need the length of one stone + mortar.

Perhaps reference the door heights, the rail heights, count some bricks? IMHO, if you can model the castle to appear the same, being off a little won't hurt.

You can take measures from top view from google earth 💭

All brick and door sizes are rather uncertain with a castle like this but GE would give you a certain scale - on the plan at least.

                steps are usually about 7-8"
                hand rails probably about 36"

The handrail on the bridge is probably 900-1100mm high - so use 1m ?
I think that's your best object to 'guesstimate' from...
From that you can interpolate all other dimensions.
Since you are not trying to fit this model next to something that is already the 'right-size', making it +/-10% wrong as you make it, will matter very little.
If you later get something of a known size, then you can use the Tapemeasure tool to pick two points a known distance apart, and type in the real dimension, answering Yes when prompted to rescale the entire model...

                    Thanks for the advice 😄
Google Earth might be a good idea.
