Hi everyone, looks like a great group. Im fairlly new to Sketchup. Im using it primarly for Architectural and interior design needs. Im having a problem with a house model Im building. Im trying to apply roofing shingles and clapboard siding from the library but each time I do the seams (orientation)run up the roof and up the wall sheathing rather than being horizontal. I cant figure out how to get them correct. Any thoughts? Also, I downloaded a piece of roofing drip edge from the warehouse. Is there any way to resize the length of that piece? its only 3 feet long and a standard piece is 10' long. I did try opening it up but there was no option to change the length and I couldnt push/pull it in any way. Thanks in advance for any help. Ken H

To adjust a texture Right Click > Texture > Position

To increase the lenght Scale it laterally or edit the object and select the geometry at one end and move it 7' in the direction needed.

Rich, thank you so much for your reponse. The fix for the roofing shingles is not working. I think the issue is the piece of plywood sheathing underneath the shingles. I made that a group. Whenever I right click on the roofing shingles it opens the window that allows you to edit the group. I cant get a window that gives me > texture > position. What am I doing wrong?

Image and/or file SKP (save as V6 for a more large audiance) will be necessary for a more easy answer πŸ˜„

when two faces are against each other such as plywood decking and a roof texture above they will show both... go to the decking model and hide or remove the top face that is against the roof texture.

If you've made a group and painted the group you cannot edit the texture. If you apply the material to the geometry in the group then and only then can you edit the texture.

Exactly. Please, have a look at this tutorial, too:

Thanks for all the advice, I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong. Does anyone know if there is fiberglass R13 insulation in the warehouse that I can download into my model. I looked and found some things like rolls but not a piece that could be used in my model. Thanks again, great forum.
