I have a huge issue. I'm using SketchUp 8 and and VRay 1.49. I've done a bunch of renderings, but for some reason, this model won't render. To help out, I actually erased all the extraneous information, geo-located the model, and don't have any artificial lighting in it. I wanted to get an idea of how the model looked with sun/sky and what all I had to do, but I couldn't get it to do anything.

If I open another model or draw a scene in an new model, it renders fine.

      Can someone help me?

I can't upload the model because it is too big. Zipping it still made it too large to put on the site.

Would anyone be able to give me a place to send the file to see if they can check it?

A couple of things you could try would be to try rendering it with override materials, this would let you know if one of you materials is causing the issue. The other potential problem is that its running out of memory in which case you would have to render to a file instead (.exr) and then adjust it with Photoshop or something similar.

I'll check the materials issue. The memory issue COULD be a problem. The file is only 47MB, and I render a different model that is 42MB and it works without any problems.

However, I'll check those two. I figured it was a material problem. I'll try to "override" materials, but how would I then find out which material is the culprit?

Found out that it was a component I made that was fluted "Polygal". I extruded a fluted material (in plan) to give it that Polygal effect in earlier versions of Podium. It worked pretty well, but VRay has a huge issue with it.

Has anyone ever rendered Polygal with glass and a bump to give it that fluted look?

I bet you could achieve this effect by rendering a small portion of the modeled material and take than alpha mask and use that as a glossiness map in refraction? Quite the challenge.
