      Hi,

I'm sure this has been covered before but a Topic search did not come up with anything.

A have just insert a few construction lines on the face of a simple cube and when I zoom in and out the lines fade and sometimes disappear (see attached).

Anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please?

      Regards,
      Andrew

I've seen this before when the face and the guideline don't lie in exactly the same plane. They can be very close and if you zoom back, they'll look fine but as you zoom in, the difference becomes more noticeable and you'll see the guideline pass through the face. Maybe that's what you've got going on here.

          Hi Andrew, hi folks.

If you have not found the problem and want someone to check Dave's idea, try posting the model here. Only the problematice part needs to be posted.

          Just ideas.

I learned to avoid this a while back, and it is very simple.

When you create a guide (construction) line make sure you start the line ON an edge, not a vertex.

Then when you pull the line parallel to that edge, keep the cursor ON some other perpendicular edge to that face, especially when you "drop" it.

Or, start pulling the line along an edge, and press SHIFT to lock the direction; then you can move the cursor almost freely to some final point not on an edge, or the face, before dropping the guide line.

This will ensure the guide line lies right on face and not slightly above/below it.
