Ad Blocking on this website?
-
I am stumped then. May there be any firewall setting that blocks either ads or cookies?
-
I downloaded AdBlocker extension for Opera, and set Sketchucation as an "allow ads" url and seems to work now...
-
Hm. Weird as I do not understand why it would block them "by default" without an extension that is turned off for the site later.
Glad you can at least connect properly now - but this definitely needs some further investigation. Sorry for the hassle though.

"SketchUcation Community Forums have always been and will always remain free both for Free or Pro license holders of SketchUp."
So that is the promise here right? As of today I've noticed that having my ad-block active I can no longer see images posted by others.
I assume, that this website and the forum is ad-sponsored. Right? So in reality this website and it's content is not free?
You are making me use up my already small bandwidth by forcing me to de- activate my ad block extension.
I don't want to see your advertising nor do I want to see any other advertising on the web, so I will keep my ad-block active at all time.Just one Question, if I signed up for premium, and payed the $50 annual fee, would I still have to disable my ad blocking extension?
Because I would rather pay the annual fee then having to sit through the advertising garbage. -
I have been on this forum since the startup and even on its predecessor in the ...@last days.
But I guess it will not be possible anymore. Win 7, firefox, norton security suite and its is impossible to see the downloads. Tried everything, even shutting down norton completely, allowing all cookies and installing adblock just to turn it off for the sketchucation site. Nothing worked so if there isn't anybody who knows some secret place I have to change some mystery settings it is (sadly) bye, bye.
greetings erikBps. what is weird is that the add banners at the top of the site are visible, that the admachine add at the bottom also is visible, but that the images or download are not accessible.
-
I can not figure out the adds either. This apparently is something that recently (last few days) is an issue.
Java has a new update I will install and see if that fixes the trouble.
Win 7, 64b, 18gigs ram, 4t disk space, quad core.
-
So I have adds now.... In IE, Tools, Tracking Protection, disable all tracking protections.
So now I just have to figure out which site was blocking Sketchucation and go there and change my preferences to allow this site only.
When I find it I will let you know......

I don't mind seeing the ads here I kinda enjoy them but ever since we changed to the new forum look it takes for ever to load a page. I made mention of this months ago and I don't understand why I seem to be the only bugged about it or the only one with the problem. rant over sorry

Yes it is way slower then as it was. It is faster though once the ad- block is active.

Glad it's not only me, SCF is as slow as frozen snot on my end.

took 45 sec to load this page slower than anywhere else
-
Guys, I do not experience this slowness at all. The site loads almost instantly for me and occasionally I indeed hear complaints about the slowness, the problem is that I have never been able to track it down to any particular reason as I simply do not have it.
-
It may be naive of me but it seems mostly to be U.S. user who mention the slowness. Could it be that the site is hosted on European servers and the connection to the states causes the lag.
My company has a similar problem, our U.S. offices have constant problems getting consistent fast connections to our main server in Oslo, whereas I can connect to it even from my phone happily in Italy, Germany, France, Finland, the UK etc.
The IT "Professionals" that set up our system keep putting it down to the "US Bottleneck", however, if their ability to keep email accounts running consistently is anything to go by, I suspect "us" "Bottle" and "Neck" may be more what they are doing rather than what the internet is doing. -
I don't know. Sometimes Rich also complains from Ireland (although there may be an "Ireland Bottleneck", too).

or maybe that americans are surely the most impatient bunch on the planet?

True Jeff, not to mention after a few seconds most of you have forgotten your own names let alone what you clicked on.
-
^ haha!

I find this site – specifically the login – so slow that I'd stop using it (if I wasn't so addicted... )
Login takes more than 10 seconds until the server responds, then it takes 3-4 more seconds for a rather useless notification (does phpBB still not use ajax for stuff like that?). I've tried profiling the site in the browser and although it loads 23 stylesheets and 12 scripts files, that seems not to be the problem, at least not on client side. -
Login can truly be slow, I have seen that myself, too occasionally. Currently it's not phpBB however that handles user and login info (as far as I am aware of the technical background) but Joomla.
