    Hi guys!

I just try to render this file for my friend http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9556066/render%20it%20plz.skp but vray doesn't want... I read that may come from components (trees and luggage in my case) but i'd like to render them ๐Ÿ˜›

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

    Skp 8 pro
    Vray 1.49.01
    cpu 2600K - 16 go Ram - SSD 120 go

#1 - what scene are you trying to render?
#2 - there is no 1.49.02 - this means you have an illegal version, so I wouldn't broadcast that in your signature.

#1 -> activate all layers and try to render scene 6 for example
#2 -> you're right there is no 1.49.02 version, i'm gonna change it ๐Ÿ˜„ and this is not my signature, just info for my post ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

        thanks for your answer

It's a very heavy model with all those trees. It looks like you may have loaded a visopt from the web? If so, this is the issue. A lot of these vispots were made using the old 1.05.30 version and do not work anymore. Just reset to the defaults and adjust the output resolution and crank up your dynamic memory limit under system. This worked for me.

I would also render straight to EXR if you don't have a very powerful machine to cook on. You might not have enough RAM. It could take an hour or two to cook at 4096 wide.

If you want me to cook the file for you, send me a private message to discuss.

Just saw your machine specs in your signature - you should be fine - reset the defaults and increase dynamic memory to 2500 and it will cook.

                  Yo!

I just tried to render it with news values (max here is 8192, don't know why...) and it still crashing... I've got different error messages :

                  • error 183 failed to create dump file -> very strange because i increased ram value
                  • sometime it simply crash without error message, no more interface but still running in background and taking 3,5 Go in memory...

I've got 60 Gb free on my hard drive...

                  Any idea?

                  Thanks!

that's SketchUp trying to dump out a crash dump, but it's failing because the app is completely out of ram, and is crashing in a very spectacular manner (this is something that commonly happens when SketchUp runs out of ram, so don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong, there is no danger). SketchUp is a 32bit application, and can't surpass 4gb of contiguous memory. Typically 3.5 is about as far as I've seen anyone go. Since our plugin is tied to the SketchUp process (which is 32bit), our plugin + SketchUp combined can't use more than 4gb of contiguous ram.

The dynamic memory limit parameter is in regards to dynamic geometry such as Displacement. Pumping that value up won't help you avoid a crash in this case. Just render to a VRImage directly, and if necessary, turn down your output resolution.

Because of the memory limitation of SketchUp (32 bit), Vray SketchUp is also affected by it. Whenever we try to produce huge output, say 800...
