I'm modeling a wooden tool chest from a wood magazine and I would like to be able to setup scenes to display the doors and drawers closed and open in different scenes but don't seem to able to figure it out or not possible any suggestions?

You will need a plugin for this, e.g. keyframe animation.

No. You don't need a plugin for this.

Walt, you can make multiple copies of the doors and drawers in an array and assign a different layer to each copy. then change which layers are visible for each successive scene. I did a tutorial on this along time ago.

If you only want to show the doors and drawers in either their open or closed positions, you only need copies positioned at both ends of their travel.

Thanks cotty I've haven't used that before.

Thanks Dave I forgot about that. You did a blog about stopped chamfers but I couldn't seem to find it. Can you give me a link? I will post it in the woodworking forum soon maybe Mike would like to add it to models for sale. 🤣

PS When you show details of joints in LO good idea to use clipping masks for presentations or not?

Hi Walt, here's the link on the stopped chamfers.

I'll be interested to see your model.

As to the masks, it depends upon what you are wanting to show exactly. How are you envisioning the results? Usually when I show joinery details it is in plan documents. There'll be an exploded view and then the individual parts are dimensioned typically in 2D views.

Wow there's a lot that goes into play here in setting up the arc length, radius and bulge. I tried last year to get my head around this and gave up. 😍
