Placeing 3-d text along a radial alignment

Does anyone know how to place 3D text in a radial alignment? I am designing a sign and the main feature is a circle with the text offset from the outside of the circle and placed to flow along the circle shape in a uniform manner. Other than placing and rotating each letter to make up a word I am not sure how else this can be done.
