Looking for plugin to patch holes in mesh

I think I saw a discussion here of a plugin (or a plan for one) that would infill a hole in a mesh (hopefully quad-faced) with an evenly meshed set of faces (as possible) like sandbox from scratch. This mesh would join to the original mesh on all sides. Is there something like this.

ThomThom is working on a tool that sounds like what you want. I understood it at one time to be called "Bezier patch". He may have decided on another name. And Rich O'Brien may be "riding herd on him" for this one as well. The concept is reflected well in Vertex Tools, however, I believe there is more to it than VT. Somebody correct me on any details you may know.

I was working on such a thing last night (a hole, not a plugin) and vertex tools worked out because the hole was sort of rectilinear. I used the option extrude to build off of one end and stitch it up as I went. I realize this may be too much to ask, but I thought something was seriously being explored anyway. Seems it would be very useful. The patch, by rights, can only be an average fix, but then one can rework it after. The whole quad/texturing thing is getting hold of me. (I close my eyes and see blue dots.)

Wouldn't CurviLoft's skinning work in the 'holes' edges - there's a quad option too...

It might, but I am thinking of irregular shapes. CL seems to want nice outlines. My memory tells me it was actually one of your drawings, TIG, of filling an irregular hole. Maybe it was theoretical or maybe it WAS CL. I should try it more often. I don't always get results with it. I guess the "hole" issue is no different than skinning any outline. In this case, though, not needing beautiful lofts, just some quick quads to work with, joined to the surrounding mesh. Building terrain.

Great tools! (Makes me want to do more organic modelling than I really have a need for. Maybe I'll move off this arch-viz stuff and do something serious like wet drapery!)

Rich was nice enough to make a video of TGI3d in action fixing a hole.
At the end he uses another TGI3d tool to smooth the resulting mesh.
It looks great, and I thought I should share it here.
I'm going to mark this resolved. Though it's a pricy plugin--this shows some of its worth.

I was looking for something automatic, which Rich provided. But in fairness Curviloft works pretty quickly in the example we had.
- Draw edges to help Curviloft.
- Skin Contours with Curviloft.
- Choose best vertex matching--square and even as possible.
- With Vertex tools choose the center vertices and merge close vertices (adjust distance as needed). Don't move the perimeter vertices.
It's clean enough for Sandbox.
