Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me - this one small issue is consuming me, but I need to move on as I am working to a deadline.
I'm drawing an electrical plan in 2D. I've created various electrical symbols as components, but they loose their infill colour when placed over certain other components and surfaces. I want my existing plan to remain in the background with my electrical components brought to the front as solid shapes.
Any ideas? Would really appreciate a hand.

You're running into something referred to as Z-fighting. because you have two faces in the same plane. Move you electrical plan up a short distance to eliminate it. How far you have to move it will depend on the overall distance between the plan and the camera.

Dave, thank you very much! I've been struggling with that for a few hours! I knew it had to be simple but I just wasn't thinking in Sketchup.
          Thanks again.

You're welcome. It is often useful to remember that you are working in 3D space even when you are showing things in 2D.

Have a look at this thread and you'll see how I got around exactly the same problem.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark allies, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.
