SU export for Plans Elevations & Sections
-
Hey guys,
Is there a way that once you have imported your SU model in to revit or 3D Cad to create scalable plans and sections?
Each time I import a model I cant see any solid faces just a huge mess of lines in 3d cad.
In revit I can see the model but cant do anything with it, i.e. change materials etc...
If anyone has and advice on the best way to produce these drawings from SU I'm all ears.
Any help or links to tutorials is greatly appreciated...
Also if this question has been asked a kagillion times already, sorry

Hi Cobar, hi folks.
Which file format do you use when exporting from SketchUp ?
If dwg, for example, make sure that you use the Optionbutton and check faces.
With other formats, the options change. Explore and experiment.
Just ideas.

There are two ways to import a SKP directly into Revit.
One makes it a full sized object - this is uneditable - e.g. a chair or fixed building block.
The other way brings it in as a full sized 'massing-model' - then you can adjust it parts if desired, and then swap the facets for things like walls, floors, roofs - just like inside a Revit with a masses > elements swap...
You should never need to change the size of imported SKP data if you've modeled correctly in Sketchup...
This is beyond the scope of SCF - find a Revit forum for more help...
