Hi everybody, this is my first post to any forum. I use sketchup v8 and vray 1.49

I rendered and image to a .exr file, however my background image came out transparent when I opened it in photoshop. The background is a 32 bit HDR sky and is set in the BG Color, texbitmap slot. Any help would be appreciated!

      Thank you,

      John

In the VFB channels options - deselect the "alpha" channel, then your render should save with the background.

i'm still having some troubles with those exr-saved large images..
i found that if i don't save the maps and keep the the "single frame" calculation mode of IR and LC maps, it renders fine, but has exactly the same memory limitation with the standard VFB render mode.
if i save maps things get better on the memory side, but i found strange color artifact such as zones rendered in flat red, or flat green or flat blue.
in particular i found this problem popping out every time i try to use a saved IR map using "from file" mode.
so i'm rendering with saved LC maps, but still using "single frame" method for IR.
how can i solve this problem? did anyone find a good tutorial on the whole maps saving/loading stuff?

How do you render the separate VSB channels in Vray 2.0 for Sketchup?
I have tried everything. I have exported to EXR and Vrimg and used the ProEXR software to convert the Vring files... but all I get in Photoshop is the RGB and alpha channels... nothing else.

It seems straight forward in 3Ds Max...but not in Sketchup.
There is a CUSTOM Channel box below the standard channels. I tried adding the channels into this box (and re-naming them)... they do show up in Photoshop but only as totally black images. Again, only RGB and alpha are correct.

              Can someone please help.

I've just put together a tutorial to explain the process of using the vrimg format. Hope this helps!

Andy, thanks alot.... that was very clear and easy to understand.
It was interesting to see the Vrimg Converter. I have not got it in my Chaos location the same as your.... I have everything else but not the converter.

Also, your CUSTOM CHANNELS has nice and clean boxes.... my boxes are all jumbled up.... see enclosed pic. I also noticed that when I do render the channels are not in the FRAME BUFFER.... only the RGB and alpha. So there is obviously something wrong.

I think I will do a Win. System Recovery and go back to Sketchup 2013 and Vray 1.6
I have never used the channels before... in fact I only started using Vray 3 weeks ago...so I have no reference point... before that I used Lumion 3D which is good for animation but not that good at pics. Every now and again (as a designer) you discover some new software that 'clicks'.... and Vray is just great!!!

Have you a link to the Vray converter?

                  Thanks for your help.

                    Andy

                    Good news!!
I went back to Sketch2013 and Vray 1.6 and it works as it should.
I have even located the Vrimg Converter which is very handy.... a plugin I would never have discovered if I did not have this problem.

                    Thanks alot.

You really should be using vray 2.0. Vray 1.6 is beta build that has expired. There have been a lot of improvements anyway since 1.6

Glad to hear you've fixed your installation and were able to follow the tutorial 👍
