Rotating opposite doors
-
Pilou -thanks ...but i DID copy and then flip. And like I said, when I edit one door, the other edits as mirror, so that at least works. But I can't get them to rotate opposite each other. They stick together in the middle and rotate the same direction.

Have you flip along the direction of your copy move ? Use the function right click Flip along !
Red for a red move
Green for a green move
Blue for a blue move!Here a green
There is absolutly no problem! Edit any of them that works fine as wished

It appears to me that you've got what is referred to as a nested group or component of the two doors. This means that the two doors are wrapped together and when you click on one with the Select tool you are actually selecting both of them. I don't know why you'd want the two doors nested together but if you do, double click on the nest to open it for editing. then select one door at a time and rotate it open. Personally I would just explode the nest so the two doors are separated. Let them be components or groups on their own.
By the way, the interior of your case appears to need a little attention. Or is the bottom supposed to be sloped to the back?
Edited to add: If your doors aren't groups or components on their own, they'll be stuck together and you won't be able to open just one. Make sure you have made a component of one door and copied it.
-
They're not nested together. I've redone this multiple times ...I make one door a component, copy it, flip it, move it back... I can select and rotate each door individually, and they rotate correctly, but not together.
re the case, yes, i probably did mess it up during one my umpteen redos.

Are you doing the rotation on the objects inside one of the components? That would cause the objects in the other (mirrored) component to rotate in a mirrored direction. Rotating a component that is NOT "open" or in edit mode does not affect other components. It looks like you were rotating two "closed" components.
-
Oh, that's the secret! No, I had just selected them; I didn't put them in edit mode.
So I put one in "edit component" mode, selected it in its entirety, then rotated. Yep, they both opened opposite each other. Thanks!

BTW, it doesn't seem like I have a file uploading option. Do you have to have a certain # of posts before you can do that?

You're well over the required number of posts to be able to upload attachments. Make sure after you Chose the file you click the 'Add the file button'.

New members have a bit of limitations (first couple of posts moderated) but nothing with attachments so you should be able to upload even with the very first post.
