Select all within component > select only guides > empty selection? But there are guides galore within the assemblage of this component. I want to get rid of the guides, as interesting as they may be. When I select the guides of the assemblage, the components are picked, so they are parts of the components. ???

Nevermind...found it: the horizontal across the top, clearly visible.

Yes like all primitives, guides can be within the entities context of a Group or ComponentDefinition.

There is a way to purge ALL guides from a model, but that is not often what users wish to do (until the model is completely done.)

If that "assemblage" is made up of many instances of the same ComponentDefinition, then entering the editing context of one of them, and deleting the guides should delete them from all.. as you are really editing the definition's entities collection.

      I'm not here much anymore.

Thanks, Dan. Yes, I was just editing the one and the assemblage is made up of only instances of it and maybe the sphere faces upon which Chris' fabulous 'component onto faces' PU was invoked on. What fun to watch the thing morph as the one compo is edited! Cheap thrills, for sure.

The built-in guide-delete tool removes all guides from the current context downwards.
So if you are in the model context and run it then all guides go.
If you are inside a group context and run it then all guides inside the group, and inside other groups/components that are inside the context group, will be deleted, but guides outside in other groups or the model itself are not removed.

Note that locking a group or having guides on 'off' layers, does not prevent those guides being deleted in en mass.

Of course you can erase individual guides using the Eraser tool or selecting them and using 'delete'...

There are several script tools to erase guides in different contexts, and also differentiate between guide-lines and guide-points...
