What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to create a tube with a helix 'hollowed out' from it.
I only have the free SU version at home and have subsequently tried intersecting but to no avail.
What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: the tube and helix are only grouped for ease, I intersected them ungrouped.

I'm guessing while my PC thinks.....
Your geometry needs to be scaled 10x
