      Hello,

I imported a model from the warehouse-- it contains a sphere.
i would like to know how to get the radius and/or circumference of the circle that created the sphere.
In other words, how to accurately dimension a sphere?

It is being difficult because there are a lot of facets and endpoints for the dimension/measuring tool to snap to and I cant seem to see the center of the sphere even when zoomed in.
so how is it easily/accurately done?

The sphere should have 2 poles where the longitudinal lines meet. Use the tape measure tool from pole to pole to get diameter.

And turn on hidden geometry (View menu) to easily spot those two poles.

You can use the Plugin "arc centerpoint finder" from Chris Fullmer (http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=18963) to reconstruct the center of the sphere.

I have had at least one occasion where using arc centerpoint finder on several pairs of segments in several loops in the same sphere gave several results very near, but I did not define the north south axis as you show. Also, this sphere would be known as a UV sphere. Another type of sphere is the Geodesic sphere that does not have regular meridians.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

The boundingbox plugin is good for that, or measuring any irregular shaped object
