I am trying to add thickness to objects like this, but don't know how I could do this properly*. Everything would be great: Tutorials, hints, plugins, inspiration...

*I consider offsetting every curve involved manually extremely not properly...

A couple of ways: First turn on hidden geometry. Move/Copy and then scale. Stitch faces on edges. Or, as massimo sugggested, use Fredo6's JointPushPull. This tool can also operate by selected vector path and by face normals. I thought there was also another tool involving the term "shell".
EDIT well I didn't see all of the previous reply. So, consider my answer a vote of confidence in massimo 💚

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Joint push pull (remember to press tab after you run the tool and choose "thickening" or "keep original faces")
Or maybe this one by Thomthom (never tried it myself though).

            Great, great, great. Thanks.

I already had it installed though, but also already got lost between all the plugins... 😕
