Old Barn Concept

The renders look great. Nice old model too. I am interested as to how you did the bent planks. They look very irregular.

iichiversii,
Are you under NDA on the name of the game or the developer? If so it's ok, I just had to ask. My students will ask, so...
You've done a great job on adding age and damage to the barn and it looks like it was done very economically, time and polygon wise, also.
Great work!

Ah yes Rich, the texture is different as i used Galvenise sheeting instead of the slats on the bigger barn, i need to change the texture on the bigger barn still as you suggested, just being busy wrapping your present for christmas,

I'm sorry, I know better than to use acronyms. I never know what they are so I shouldn't be using them.
NDA is "Non-disclosure Agreement" and would mean that you could not disclose the name of the game or the company/developer that commissioned your work. I will be showing your work to some of my students who will be at a dinner tomorrow, and they always want to know who, what, when and where. To reiterate, if you are not able to give any of that information, it is perfectly cool, because I can say "I asked", and they understand when there is an NDA it's not available.
My first model was posted in Sept, it's at
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=39872Keep up the good work.

Hey, that worked pretty well. That's an 8X10 composite at 150 dpi and it looks great. I've printed several of these of various models so I can show young people SU no matter where I am. Since always carry my photography portfolios with me, it's easy to whip out some cool SU work to impress kids and get them interested.
When I have some of my SU work worth showing, I'm going to put up a 3D section on my website. It's currently mostly about photo restoration and my other photography, but will soon include SketchUp, well actually it does in the "Links" section, but I mean pictures of models. The site is http://www.adifferentpicture.com.
I hope you will put up more of your work on SketchUcation. You're doing some good stuff.

Wow thanks Llyod, im honoured that you used my Barn concept for game design during your presentation. The print up of my barn concept in each stage was very well presented and informative and your layout was very clear. Thanks for the feedback and im glad my work is inspiring these students

Hope you had a good change of year
I showed your work to some students who were at a christmas dinner. I told them I would bring some more examples of SU models and they are particularly interested in game applications. I captured several screen shots of your barns and printed them to show since there was not going to be a computer available at the dinner. They were very impressed with your work and were very glad to see the development from the initial model to the very dark and sinister version with the red light inside. They were also interested to learn of independent game developers having only thought that there were only large companies producing games. I gave them the addresses of the developers web site, and I'm sure they will go look at them. I'll let you know of any feedback that I get from them.
I've retired from teaching except for some photoshop training I do through my photography business. I've only begun working in SU. You are way ahead of me. I got the local Highschool to incorporate SU in their curriculum so I have occasion to talk with students about SU and encourage them to do challenging models.
I'll try to attach the composite I made to show the students. If it doesn't upload properly, I'll try again with a smaller file size
