The fastest sketchup card seems to be still the old Geforce GTX285.
But i would suggest a GTX560 TI 2GB. I have one too. Works great so far and power consumption is ok compared to the high end cards 😉

          Hi, haynesc:
For more information, see what AdamB says here, with some links to look at:

EDIT: @numerobis: I see we posted almost simultaneously. That cgarchitect link is very interesting, and probably more to the point.

Limitations stem more from SU than your video card. But with that said, do not
go with the problematic SLI and opt for 460gtx or above.

                Hi, haynesc:
I am not too much different from you in terms of knowledge in this area. I think it would be a good idea to delve into some of this information, so that when the solid recommendation comes along, you can at least make an informed choice. But it has been stated that Sketchup is not the crucial factor in your choice. It would be any of the image processing programs you use, such as Photoshop, or the render programs you use.

My choice for a new system with i7 second gen and an Asus P8Z8-F/GEN3 mobo.

                  GeForce GTXZ 550 Ti 2GB GDDR5.
                  About $109-119 US for 1GB and $176 for 2GB
                  http://uk.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-550ti/specifications.
                  Sketchup ready and affordable.
I'm not a pro on video hi end stuff but this looks like pretty good match for SU.
4.1 open GL and good clock speed etc.

Check it out and comment please.

that's not much... the nVidia Geforce GT 440 is probably the 'best bang for the buck' you can get for this small amount of money.

Add roughly £30 and you will get something more capable as e.g. the GTS450.

And keep an eye on the power consumption, the GTS450 consumes ~100w if forced, in peaks up to ~135w. Which requires a power supply unit of min. 300 watts.

                        hth,
                        Norbert
