Do you smoke?

I walk happily on a sidewalk chatting with a friend and then I stop at a red light . Of a sudden I get a cloud of cigarette smoke right into my face.
Yet you are happy to breath in the fumes from passing cars....

Since you are saying that I suppose you don't own a car and you're using a bicycle or something electric?
We all agree that using car is a necessity(most of the time) . Yet,the car fume is not something that you feel right in your face and with such intensity especially if you don't drive one.

Ironically, some modern cars output cleaner air than they are taking in.
There is a very big difference between having smoke blown into your face and getting down on all fours to have vehicle exhaust blown onto you. One is a choice and the other is forced upon us.
In my case I am happy to not live in a big city where the forced consumption of vehicle exhaust is a constant feature of life on the street.

Cornel, I have to agree with Jeff. There is a time and place for everything. I think we are becoming a little annoyed with your continuous quotes from the Bible and I doubt 'God' intended his words to annoy anyone!
Nothing against the Bible but I think if I continuously quoted Homer Simpson I would also be put on the ignore lists of many. So please drop the quotes and lets hear your views on matters without the supporting Bible quotes.
BTW, Homer has uttered a few religious related comments!
God bless those pagans. --Homer Simpson
Lisa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports, such as hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing and such and such. --Homer Simpson

Hang on.... maybe Cornel is GOD!

@ Mike Lucey (re. Bible vs. H.S.),
I do not waste my time with Homer Simpson 's quotes. Some are interesting enunciated, but do not contain practical teaching....But, for those who study seriously, “all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” (2 Timothy 3:16)

I am Timothy (strictly speaking Lt.Col. Sir Tim, but never mind) and you are abusing my words and my patience. You are acting as a bad guest in someone's house and generally like a total cad and bounder. Anyone with an ounce of decency would withdraw and cease such poor behaviour.

BUT...
Cornel, did [your] God say anything about "smoking" in 'His' scriptures?
Or anything that could be construed as even slightly connected with that topic ?
After all that is the very basis of this thread...
It is not a Bible-class.
Unless God [via you] has some relevant input here, then you have nothing useful to contribute to this thread. -
You can smoke in church.

'TIG', primarily in the Scriptures, God shows us some principles. Examples, both positive and negative, from the Bible does not refer directly to smoking, but warns us about the waste of our health, energy, time, money, and so on… Also, there are references to moderation, self-control, patience, etc.
Take it logically, not speculative...!

There are many publications extolling all of these 'virtues', set against a list of various 'vices'.
Your source is not unique; or indeed original in that regard, having been pipped by many classical scholars and philosophers many years previously.
So... what specific unique insights does your source bring to bear on this particular debate [if any] ? -

@ 'TIG'. It is God who works in the person who trusts in Him, to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose. A man of true faith, quit smoking once for all life, not for 50 times…!

Cornel, I often wonder if you are really taking the piss out of us

Many smokers do not know that, for human body, to DISHABITUATE from something, is needed a period of abstinence for approximately 30 days.
Most people who want to quit smoking, attempts to refrain for several days to 2 weeks, and, because their body does not feel well, due to of the lack of tobacco, they return to the old vice...
Try for 30 days, act with will, and you will not regret it!

Well, my sister-in-law had a stroke yesterday morning while dropping her kids off to the first day at school.
She is a heavy smoker.
Her Neurosurgeon spent much of yesterday attempting to dissolve the blood clots in here brain. Today her condition is stable; she is lucid but very confused and has a long road ahead with rehabilitation....
She is 41 years old.
Nuff said.
