Is this feasible in a real world scenario?
Would you actually frame and skin and ramp/bowl in this manner or is this something that would be new in this field?
The reason I ask is because I saw a few videos of Team Pain in action. Stunt Junkies on Discovery showed the Grand Canyon ramp. So if this is a proof of concept then I'm intrigued.

yeah.. entirely feasible
thing is, i wouldn't want to surface this thing.. i like how it looks.. i'd rather build it in the standard manner then maybe mirror this one next to.. that'd be sweet.@unknownuser said:

yeah, it's nbd
i'm not 100% sure i'd like to do it like this because i'd be paying a cnc operator to do most of the cuts instead of my crew.. i gotta look out for the boys you know
the mirroring scenario works out ok though.. the boys get their cash and people have something cool to look at as well as something awesome to ride.

oh yeah? then you saw me on there (depending on which clip you saw)β¦
90% of team pain's wood projects over the past decade are my projects (design and crew leader)

Hey, it's Jeff!!

Maybe some problems at the extremity? Or with the cross-hatching all is blocked?

yeah, the cross hatching would fill the void.

The corkscrew loop that Tony Hawk nailed first? Or was it Bob Burnquist?
Anyway, I'd like to see some of your builds in SketchUp and Tony Hawk's autograph

About the kidknee2_reducedfilesize.pdf
There is not a general page for these pieces?
Each piece is only on one page? As seen on the file that i have loaded -

yeah, i designed/built that (the corkscrew)... it's actually one of the first complex projects i used sketchup for (i worked on tony's first loop, the first one in history, inside a bullring in tijuana but that one was designed by tim payne himself β i've built maybe 6 or 7 since then)..
i found bob's corkscrew folder on an old hard drive.. v4
check out this file i used to help get my brain around wether or not the dimensions/angles/etc were right
view->animation->playβ¦ i basically held my left hand palm facing down then made a peace sign (fingers being the legs of a skateboarder) then moved my hand across the screen with the animationβ¦burnquist 2 slice3animated copy.skp
prior to building the corkscrew at bob's, i also built him a loop which was a convertible (the top opened up so there was a 14' gap which he aired upside down.. built that thing on two successive weekend while also building the first mega ramp for danny way β 2 weeks of hell ).. anyway, tony hawk's worst fall ever happened on that loop .. check it.

Each piece is only on one page? As seen on the file that i have loadedthere's a dialog for selecting your material size.. each page of the pdf represents one sheet of my selected material size.. with the dimension i chose for the final object and the size of one sheet of material i chose, only one piece fit on the material with a lot of waste left over.
if i were really going to have that cut to order, i'd want to readjust my parameters in order to maximize material/minimize waste.

Ooooooow
That's a story to tell the grandkids.

I have seen that the maxi % of the PDF is 6400 %
Seems your little piece at the page one is 50 cm
So you can make it at 32 meters!
So a gorgeus stadium! -

So a gorgeus stadium!meh, 32m⦠here's a bowl i built that's closer to 35 meters long.. and 4 meters deep
the deep end view from the other side..
another one around 22m x 29m:
that said, i'm liking the smaller kidney shown in this thread a lot better.. more classy or something..
-
Yes that is effectly truelly soft wood sculpture!
But I said 32 meters for the piece number 37 of the page one!
So stadium size wil be more like this! -
