Aw, c'mon Jeff. All you need is one of these:

That does look pretty cool. I think it would make a great piece of sculpture hanging on a wall.

each one of those squares = 12" πŸ˜„

I'm actually building this thing soon.. though framed differently.
I like Daves idea of putting it on the wall -- maybe a little 3D print of this version.

A quick way of converting imperial fractions to metric is....

                      1/2" = 16/32" (Change to 32nds if possible)

                      Multiply 16 by 8 ( 16 * 8 = 128)

Put in a decimal at one decimal place

                      so 128 = 12.8mm

It.s an approximation but a pretty close one.

So 12mm ply in EU/Rest_of_the_World == 1/2" ply in USA...

our 1/2" is actually 15/32" which is really close to 12mm (11.9mm)..
just easier for us to call it half.

                          23/32 = 3/4" ply
                          19/32 - 5/8" ply
                          etc.

Plywood is almost always thinner than the dimension it is called but then so is all other wood. A 1x6 will be 3/4 in. thick by 5-1/2" wide. If you want one inch thick lumber you have to buy 6/4 and surface it.
