Aw, c'mon Jeff. All you need is one of these:
That does look pretty cool. I think it would make a great piece of sculpture hanging on a wall.

each one of those squares = 12"
I'm actually building this thing soon.. though framed differently.
I like Daves idea of putting it on the wall -- maybe a little 3D print of this version. -
Swimming pool or skate park?
-
Wouldn't your skateboard wheels get caught up in the open squares?
What would you skin it with? -
for skateboarding ... of course!... why waste it by putting water in there?
surface = 2 layers of 1/2" ply then a final surface of 6mm Finland birch
-
12 inch ?
in 2011 there are always these sortes of measures?
That is completely incongruous!
Decimal system don't penetrate in the new world? -
1/2" is 'half' an inch ~12.7mm
So 12mm ply in EU/Rest_of_the_World == 1/2" ply in USA... -
A quick way of converting imperial fractions to metric is....
1/2" = 16/32" (Change to 32nds if possible)
Multiply 16 by 8 ( 16 * 8 = 128)
Put in a decimal at one decimal place
so 128 = 12.8mm
It.s an approximation but a pretty close one.
Boring message over

Sweet model Jeff!
How did you make the bowl shape(the negative space)? ...is it mathematically generated?

Decimal system don't penetrate in the new world?i admit, metric makes way more sense.. i guess we're (americans) just stubborn? or too lazy to switch?

So 12mm ply in EU/Rest_of_the_World == 1/2" ply in USA...our 1/2" is actually 15/32" which is really close to 12mm (11.9mm)..
just easier for us to call it half.23/32 = 3/4" ply
19/32 - 5/8" ply
etc.a big box store here in the u.s.:

What !!!
The USA has [slightly] thinner plywood than the rest of the world ??
Let's all agree to call it '12mm'Did you make the model out of Slicer cuts or ModelSlicer ?
I have a project on the backburner to make a Slicer+Slotter using components in the assembled set and flattened... -
Plywood is almost always thinner than the dimension it is called but then so is all other wood. A 1x6 will be 3/4 in. thick by 5-1/2" wide. If you want one inch thick lumber you have to buy 6/4 and surface it.

So the square of Jeff 12" must be 30.5 cm or 30.48 cm ?
