Fake DOF
-
hi,
you can see fake DOF on the attached pictures (made with vray), i didn't use ZDepth and i forgot to apply AO).
i would like to know, how does these renders look like - too odd or believable.this post was supposed to be about fake DOF. I think that would be good to show you all renders of this interior.

The first image looks like a tilt shift effect.
The second looks just wrong, especially around the stairs.
No I'm no rendering expert but these don't give a sense of DOF.
Also the image outside the window is skewed at a strange angle.
But the actaul scene, materials and lighting are great

I agree, actually the scene itself have not a depth of field that justifies the blur, almost all the main objects have the same distance from the camera.
You could obtain a realistic blur effect using the sketchup fog as zdepth mask to be applied in photoshop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDzNJYi6Bok -
