Hi I draw a lot of conservatories in sketchup but the way i draw them is very long winded and im sure theres a quicker way. I draw everything up in AutoCad 1st and then import it in and pretty much trace round it. Im sure theres an easier way using plugins ect. So im after advice on any drawing techniques and any plugins that would help. Useful plugins would be any the divide rectangles ie one rectangle into 3 window shaped ones, a plugin for drawing doors and windows of various styles and a roof one that i can easily use to convert to a glazed roof. I know im probably asking a lot and not expecting it to be that quick and easy but any info that would help would be very useful.

      Kind Regards

      Nick

        Hi Nick, hi folks.

You don't necessarily need any plugin to draw what you describe.

I suggest that you invest a few hours in watching all of the SketchUp (SU) video tutorials that can be found on the SketchUp site.

Then, look at the help. SU's help can be accessed from the Help menu. From there, BTW, you can access the rest of the SU's Web site.

After you become familiar with SU's native tools, you may then consider investigating plugins that may help you draw complex shapes.

Of course, you can import your AutoCAD drawings to help in recreating the geometry of you conservatories. Read the help about importing files.

        Just ideas.

Im pretty good with the basic sketchup tools and rendering software already. some of my drawings are on here http://www.3dconservatorydesign.co.uk/gallery.php
Im just sure that with the right plugins and maybe a slightly better technique I can produce them a lot quicker.

          Cheers Nick
