Not A Clue On How To Use The Forum
-
Although I have been using SU for sometime I tried to send a messge to a new member Johntwiname who had a post under CONSTRUCTION & WORKING DRAWINGS-DISCUSSION. It was sent under private message because I wasn't sure of how else to contact him. I pressed submit but don't know whether it has been sent. Can someone put me on the right path please

As a new member your access is somewhat limited for a couple of messages - until we are sure you are not a 'spam-bot'...
Shortly you should just be able to use the Reply button on any post and type in your message and Confirm to send it, and see it's added to that thread.
The PM [Private Messaging] is used for discussions away from the thread, as a newbie I'd expect you to use these sparingly until you make 'contacts' and where a PM might be more appropriate than a public forum.
You can start a new thread too - as you've found out - just make sure it's in the correct forum - Mods can adjust things but it's less annoying if you get it right first time...
Also some etiquette - don't use too many of CAPITAL LETTERS - it's looks shouting and is harder to read - I've adjusted your post's title to 'Title Case'...

Finally just some additional words on the PM system: when you send a PM, it is in the Outbox folder until the recipient reads it - when it will "move" to the Sent messages folder.
