What's this crap?

I also saw it...
I'm sure this must be some kind of mistake...
Wonder if there's a wrong code somewhere...?!? -
AdBlock Plus

Alan, although AdBlock Plus will block these adds, I didn't post about this here (and I'm sure Massimo didn't either) to complain about the banner adds in general...
Reason for my post was to let admins know that there's an inappropriate banner add together with "normal" adds...@Admins: If it can help you in any way, this is what it links to...

Ditto.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about the banner ads; and I fully realise that the site depends on ad revenue for its survival. Anyone serious about SU will want to check out all of the advertised peripherals on a fairly regular basis...as I do...probably every week or so. It's how I found out about stuff like Tgi3D rather than comments in the forum postings. I just prefer not to see them all the time.
But if this is some kind of rogue ad, then fair point.
-
I use Adblock Plus BUT have it disabled for some forums like SCF where the advertising revenue is what pays to keep them running... AND the ads can be informative!
Not sure about the rogue banner ad ? Perhaps SCF or their advertisers got hacked - I haven't see any ads like that - they do 'rotate'...
EDIT: I did several forced reloads and I final got the offending banner-ad ??? weird
-
So did you follow it...are you one of the 3 men in London (couldn't be more wrong in my case) that are privileged to see their Flash demo?
Hovering over the banner, it does give a link to buysellads, so I suspect it's them that have been hacked rather than Sketchucation. -
Looks like an error on either BSA's end or that advertiser has identified us as needing such advice.

Hi Guys,
Well its gone now. It was unfortunate. I had the 'Approve Advert Button' switched on in the early days with BSA but found that some advertisers wanted to see their ads up and running straight away after uploading. I then switched this option off to facilitate them. I thought it was safe enough until today! Its now back on!

Thanks Mike.

Just checked the clicks on that ad. It seems that lots of clicks came from Italy and Denmark.

At least 2 from Denmark... -

Ah well, I missed this (although have heard bout it ever since).
They probably wanted to please Mike (this was the very first ad they organised for SCF and seems to be successful at least in two countries!)

Those ones I don't mind at all...It is the software and services demo's that give me weak knees. I load em up, and well,...more trash-wear for all the good members to waste their time on. Not easy to control but unfortunatly the forums reputation takes a hit each time this happens and the advertisers with good products start to look twice, I am sure. It will eventually start to feel like the "appstore", the odd good app surrounded by a desert of trash that you must plod through to get to the oasis. I think that it is verging on going too far. The forum, through the good work of owners organizers and faithful members has grown into a treasure chest. That value is now being exploited to the max by sketchucation. Sorry guys...I'd work on making your revenue persuits a little more subtle at least.
Do you mean 'subtle' like the above comment
